top 3 components for a successful media kit
if you are a blogger or someone with a business you may want to consider creating a media kit. media kits let a company, business or potential donor know the 5 w’s (who, what, where, when, why). i consider my media kit an opportunity to introduce myself to brands and create potential collaborations. media kits should be clear, and an extension of a blog. since i blog about my personal style, travel and inspiration, i had to make sure i incorporate all three components. the top 3 components of a media kit are:
- web address
- email address
often times when creating this document, basic points are forgotten. the name, web address and email address should be clear and easy to find for the reader. media kits can be extensive or very short, it all depends on what you would like to share with a potential client. i chose to highlight my accomplishments and include my best photos. if a company is interested in working with you, they will ask any questions that may not have been included on the media kit.
i suggest asking a graphic designer to create a media kit, but there are a number of free templates that can be used. my sweet friend, carly jackson, is an awesome graphic designer, and created mine.
